The Rev. Dr. David Allen Marcus, Jr. is a native of Charlotte, NC. His home congregation is The Little Church on the Lane congregation. His confirmation text is the following:

Besides church activities, David was involved in sports playing soccer, baseball and golf. During his high school years David was a member of the National Honor Society, lettered in soccer, served as sports editor of the newspaper and was a class officer. David graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in three years (1991 BA History). David was involved in Student Government, served as an Alumni Ambassador and is a founding father of the Eta Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

Upon graduation from college, David worked in marketing and management with Container Corporation of Carolina and later First Union National Bank. Sensing a call into ministry since his days in high school, David left the business world behind and is proud to say he has never looked back! While attending Moravian Theological Seminary, (MDIV 1996) David served on the Student Executive Committee and served as Student Pastor at Edgeboro Moravian Church in Bethlehem, PA and Palmer Township Community Church in Easton , PA. Upon his graduation David received the Herman C. Frueauff Memorial Prize in History.

David was ordained a deacon on June 23, 1996. He has served Covenant Moravian (1996-2000) New Philadelphia Moravian Church as an Associate Pastor (2000-2012) and Christ Moravian Church (2012-present). He was consecrated a presbyter in the Moravian Church on March 16, 2003. In 2008 David received his Doctor of Ministry (DMIN) Degree in Parish Revitalization from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.

David has served  on the Small Church Leadership Task Team,  Board of Evangelism and Homeland Missions (New Church Development Chairperson, Secretary and Chairperson over his eight years of service) Editorial Board of the Hinge Magazine, the Provincial Stewardship Commission, Ordination Review Committee and several planning committees for both Synod and Inter Synodal Conferences. David serves on the Provincial Human Resources Committee,  he is the clergy member and Vice Chairperson on the Provincial Support Services Board (PSSB) and is a member of the Financial Advisory Support Committee. (FASC) He has also served as an officer on the Central Elders of the Salem Congregation (Secretary, Vice Chairperson and Acting Chairperson).

David has been married to Katherine (Lee) since 1999. She is a social worker in town. They have one son, David Allen Marcus, III and their dachshund, Cape.

In his spare time David enjoys reading, watching sports on television, (big fan of all Charlotte 49ers sports teams),  cycling and spending time with his family.
