Prayers for Charleston

From The Moravian Book of Worship:

“We pray for those who are suffering and can make no sense of tragedy. Help them to turn to the One who embraces us in our lives – even Jesus Christ, who lived and suffered among us.” (Intercessions in Time of Crisis).

From The Rev David Guthrie, President, Provincial Elders’ Conference, Moravian Church in America, Southern Province:
Remember the Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, in Charleston, SC, and the individual families as they grieve the shooting deaths of nine members, including their pastor, Clementa Pinkney (who was also a state senator).

From a NC Council of Churches message:

“Fear and violence invaded their space of grace and hospitality while they were together for the faith filled purpose of prayer and worship. As they welcomed the stranger into their midst, an act of faith commanded by the very scriptures they had gathered to study, their gesture of hospitality was met by hatred.” Pray for comfort and the Lord’s presence in the face of such a terrible trauma, and for people of faith everywhere to stand together with our brothers and sisters in Charleston to continue the work of justice and reconciliation.

Welcome to our Newest Members!

Since we will be meeting following worship, a lunch will be provided for our participants. Below are the dates the study will be offered:

Session # 1 February 22nd “We’ve Got Problems”

Session #2 March 1st “What Can We Do About It?”
