Christ as Chief Elder Communion – November 13, 2022
Join us on Sunday, November 13th as we celebrate Christ as Chief Elder Communion. On November 13, 1741 announcement was made in all Moravian congregations that Jesus Christ had been chosen Chief Elder of the Moravian Church. The Moravian Church has had no single human chief executive since then, and now observes this as a festival day on the Sunday closest to November 13th by celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Worship begins at 11 AM on Sunday morning. We hope to see you here! In addition, we will be holding our annual Church Council during worship this Sunday as well.
Spaghetti Supper – November 19, 2022
There will be a Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, November 19, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Fellowship Building. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 5 and under. All proceeds will go to the Outreach Fund which is used to help those in need in the church and the neighborhood.

The Christian Education Committee is sponsoring our Advent Lunch following the service on Sunday, November 27, 2022. The main course of pulled pork BBQ and pulled chicken BBQ will be provided. Members are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. Join us as we celebrate the 1st Sunday in Advent.
SHARING BOX
We have a special project we have just started. With the help of several members, we have a Sharing Box set up on the corner of Bank Street and Hunter Avenue. It contains non-perishable goods, snack items, small bibles, and books. As the seasons change we hope to include socks, hats and gloves. Take what you need and give what you can. Our women are continuing to reach out to our community. Thanks to Doug Conrad for building our Sharing Box and to Robbie Disher for the wonderful artwork.
Winter Weather Policy
With the threat of inclement weather this weekend, we encourage church members to check WXII, WFMY & WGHP television stations along with our Church website and Facebook page to discover information about any schedule changes for church events, meetings, and services due to weather conditions. We will have information publicized as early as we can concerning possible changes to our schedule on Sunday, January 13th.
Comenius Learning Event
According to our primary doctrinal statement, The Ground of the Unity, we are called in faith to serve humanity, with our actions shaped by scripture – but this is not always an easy task! Indeed, disagreements over how we translate scripture’s messages into individual and community actions are not new. Join us as we explore some of the challenges and prospects of biblical, faithful decision-making, then and now. This event is taking place on Saturday, November 3 from 9 AM to 3 PM at Ardmore Moravian Church. To learn more about this event or register, click on this following link: Comenius Learning Event
Work Crews Needed
The Board of World Mission is seeking volunteers to assist in the clean-up and recovery effort in the Wilmington area for the weeks of November 4th – 10th and 11th – 17th. Crews will be hosted at Covenant Moravian Church and doing clean up and demolition work at homes in the area. An effort is being made to secure sleeping cots, but people are encouraged to bring their own air/foal mattress and bedding. Work sites are being arranged through Samaritan’s Purse who is serving as a cleaning house between work sites and incoming mission teams. To learn more, read the following:
Farewell Feast for Steve Holland
On Sunday, September 30th we will be hosting our Farewell Feast for Steve Holland. Steve recently announced he is leaving us as our organist after 19 years of faithful service. The love offering collected at this lunch will support a charity of Steve’s choosing.

Church Closed on Sunday
With more rain in the forecast along with the potential for flooding in the Piedmont Triad area, Christ Moravian Church will be closed on Sunday morning. This information is now available as well on our Facebook Page, and various television stations (WXII, WFMY and WGHP) that list such closings. Please share this information with others!
Inclement Weather and Church

Church Office Closed on Wednesday
Our office will be closed on Wednesday in observance of the 4th of July . Let us remember these words from our Liturgy of National Occasions that say:
Grant to the people of this and all other lands a love of peace and order, that the nations shall learn war no more. Hasten the day when the kingdom of the world shall become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.
Summer Camp Season Underway
The 2018 Summer camp season at Laurel Ridge is underway! Pictured here are some of our Christ Moravian Campers participating in the Junior & Middle/Senior High Creative Arts camp at Higgins Lodge this week. Continue to keep all our campers (and M Staff) in prayer this summer!
Youth Lunch June 10th
The Youth will have a lunch on Sunday, June 10th, after worship in the Fellowship Building. The menu will be ham, macaroni and cheese, roasted broccoli, salad, rolls and desserts. A love offering will be collected to help the youth with their programs and missions. Please note following lunch we will have our Synod report and discussion.
Church Office Closed Monday
In observance of the Memorial Day Holiday, our Church Office will be closed on Monday. We thank those who have given their lives in service to our great country and for those who continue to protect our freedoms serving in our armed forces. Remembering these words from our Liturgy for National Occasions (Moravian Book of Worship, pg. 141):
Make of this nation an instrument for the promotion of peace, freedom, and righteousness. May it be a haven for the oppressed of other lands, a home of happiness for all who dwell within its borders; and may our commitment to liberty and justice for all be preserved for the generations to come. Hear us, gracious Lord and God.
