Our thanks and appreciation to our youth and adult volunteers who ventured out to clean gravestones for members of Christ Moravian Church and the Salem Congregation at God’s Acre on this Good Friday. We appreciate all that you do in your service for God’s Kingdom.
David Guthrie was re-elected as Provincial Elders’ Conference President. Congratulations to Clara “Cackie” Rollins who was re-elected to the Provincial Women’s Board. In addition delegates were in the voting process to elect a bishop. After ten ballots, the resolution to elect a bishop was revisited. A lengthy discussion on the floor of Synod took place . The body of Synod discerned that perhaps the Holy Spirit was not leading us to elect a bishop and by majority vote the resolution to elect a bishop was defeated. We appreciate all who came out to support our Youth Fundraiser last weekend. $624 was raised at our Breakfast last Saturday. In addition $679 was raised for World Vision in the 30 hour famine. On behalf of the Youth Fellowship we thank our members and friends of Christ Church for their generous support.

We returned to our newly refurbished Sanctuary on Sunday, March 9th. Many thanks to all those in our orchestra who played for our first Opening Exercise of 2014. In worship, we welcomed The Rev. David Guthrie, PEC President as our guest preacher in worship as we celebrated the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday morning at 2 AM. Don’t forget to turn back your clocks on Saturday evening before bedtime. Opening Exercise begins at 9:45 AM, Sunday School at 10 AM and worship at 11 AM. We hope to see you at Christ Moravian Church Sunday morning!

A great crowd from Christ Moravian Church left early this morning to venture to Winterplace Ski Resort in WV for a day of fellowship and snow tubing. Please continue to keep these members in your thoughts and prayers as they arrive back to town later this evening.
Members are reminded that on Sunday, January 5th morning worship takes place in our Fellowship Building for the next few months. We conclude the year 2013 with a Holy Communion service in worship on Sunday, December 29th. This will be our last worship service not only for the year 2013 but also for a few months in our Sanctuary. Work begins on our maintenance projects this Monday, December 30th. We hope you will make plans to join us!
We are happy to report our goal of $100.000 in pledge commitments to our Capital Improvements Campaign has been met and continues to grow ($110,000+) with more contributions coming each week! If you have not submitted your pledge commitment card, please feel free to bring those to the church office or place them in the mail.
Many thanks to our Children and Youth Sunday school classes who led our Christmas program, And He Comes!” in morning worship. We appreciate Kiley and Cyndy Smith for writing this program. Please make plans to join us for worship on Sunday, December 15th Our Children’s Program that was originally scheduled for worship on December 8th will be taking place. Our youth (pictured to the left at a recent dress rehearsal) have been working very hard on this program which is called, “And He Comes!” This was written by Cyndy and Kiley Smith and will be performed by our Youth Sunday school classes.
Many thanks to those members who ventured out Tuesday evening to trim candles for our upcoming Lovefeast services at Christ Moravian Church. As you can see from the picture to the left, mission accomplished! Thank you again!
Our Youth will be preparing a wonderful lunch for us to enjoy this Sunday following morning worship. Baked Spaghetti (including Vegetarian option) along with Salad will be served. In addition we will recognize the birthdays of our church members for the months of October and November by having a special dessert in their honor. We hope you will make plans to attend!

Church Interiors has completed their work in our Fellowship Building. Our Stainless Steel countertop has been installed and we are ready for our Anniversary Weekend Celebration that begins with our Fall Festival and Yard Sale Saturday followed by our special lunch on Sunday following worship. An exciting new ministry has come to Christ Church. Worship + 2 is a ministry that EVERYONE can become involved in! This ministry encourages our church members to be faithful in their worship attendance and to do two of the following things as well:
A wonderful crowd ventured out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to attend the dedication of our Church Labyrinth. Most people stayed to enjoy a wonderful picnic and ice cream social followed by a talent show from church members. We hope you enjoy the photo slideshow below.
The FUN began on Sunday! Our VBS experience hosted by Christ Moravian Church got underway last night. We continue through Wednesday and hope you will make plans to attend! There are opportunities for learning and mission for all ages. We hope you enjoy some of the photos of our church members that will be featured throughout the week below.
Mission Camp at Christ Church has come to a conclusion today. The youth of Christ Church have given to our congregation and the West Salem community a labyrinth that they built this week on our church campus. We plan to have a special dedication service in August. Many thanks to the youth and our adult volunteers who helped make this project possible. Not only do we appreciate this gift but the gift of those who gave of their time and talents this past week!
Mission Camp at Christ Church got underway Sunday night with a Pot Luck dinner with camp participants, parents, and leadership board members. Many thanks to those members of our church who have allowed the group to borrow items in helping them prepare this wonderful gift for our church and community. Youth Convocation is underway this week in the Piedmont Triad. High school age Moravian youth from all across North America are gathering together at Greensboro College. Please remember all who are participating in your thoughts and prayers this week. Alexis McCarn, Sarah Pace and Rebekah Wright from Christ Church are attending this week.

Many thanks to our youth who led worship on Sunday, April 28th. We were all truly blessed by your music, sermon presentation and leadership in worship. In addition many thanks to our adult volunteers (Cyndy & Kiley Smith, Matt Pace and Sabrina Maksi) who helped to plan worship on Sunday as well and for our guest pianist, Martha Walker.

A great day was had by all who attended our Spring Fling on April 21st. Many thanks to all the youth and adult volunteers and those who came out to offer their support. Over $1,000 was raised for our youth. Congratulations!

The Easter Sunrise Service (241st) begins at 6:30 AM in Old Salem. This year’s service will be officiated by The Rev. John Jackman, minister of Trinity Moravian Church. A radio broadcast of the service will also be carried by WSJS radio beginning at 6:30 AM.
The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County CROP Walk produced the fifth largest amount among the 1400 CROP Walks in the nation in 2012. Congratulations to the followin Moravian congregations who received certificates of award at the 2012 CROP Hunger Walk Recognition Awards Reception on Tuesday evening:Christ Moravian 552% (#1!)
Youth from Christ and Calvary Moravian gathered together to help raise funds for World Vision through participation in the 30 hour famine. Every year, hundreds of thousands of students in the U.S. and around the world unite to do the Famine. They learn about hunger, raise funds to help the hungry, and then go hungry themselves. Many thanks to those church members who helped support this worthy cause with your contributions!
New meeting space has been created in the Church Offices of Christ Church! We have brought a conference table out of storage and have created a great meeting space in the room where our church copying machine is located. If any of our church groups would prefer to meet in a smaller space (for 12 people or less) rather than reserving the Fellowship Building, please feel free to contact the church office for details about how to reserve this space. Many thanks to Wayne Walker, John Chitty, NT Russell and Jeff Glance for assisting with this project.

Our youth led a wonderful program this year in worship called “Christmas Around the World.” Many thanks to Donna Tesh and all the adult volunteers who helped to coordinate the program. Enjoy some of the photos below from today’s program.
Thanks to the generous contribution of a church member who wishes to remain anonymous, we have upgraded our sound system! We are no longer recording worship services on cassettes but on a digital media recorder. Following an editing process, these worship services are now available to church members on a compact disc (CD). We plan to deliver these CD’s to our members who are no longer able to attend worship and make available copies to any members by request. Simply contact the Church Office and a copy will be provided to you. Our first recording that will be available will be on Sunday, December 9th.
Many thanks to all who ventured out on Tuesday evening to help trim candles for our upcoming Christmas Lovefeast and Candle services later this month. Many thanks to those who ventured out to the Moravian Festival on Saturday from Christ Church. We had several members who participated in the 5K challenge, volunteered at our church booth and came out to support our Grateful Choir performance. Due to the inclement weather, the Grateful Choir performance was moved indoors and they did an outstanding job! Thank you again for all your support. A great crowd gathered together Sunday afternoon for our annual Church Picnic and Ice Cream Social on the lawn. We enjoyed wonderful music from our Grateful Choir and a wonderful catered meal from Mountain Fried Chicken along with Homemade Ice Cream and dessert made by our members. Many thanks to our Youth Fellowship for helping to set up and for our members of our Christian Education Committee for planning this event along with cleaning up. Members of Christ Moravian will soon be concluding their week of service at Mission Camp at Laurel Ridge. Many thanks for keeping the following people in your thoughts and prayers this week as they have participated in Mission Camp.
We especially thank Matt and Jennifer Pace for their leadership and supervision. Pastor Marcus and his son, David III traveled up to Ennice, NC on Thursday and witnessed the group hard at work painting the outside of someone’s house. Enjoy the slideshow! A great turnout for the Dash game from Christ Church on Sunday, June 3rd. Unfortunately the Dash lost the game but a fun time was had by all who attended!
Congratulations to our six confirmation students who joined Christ Church today on Pentecost Sunday. Many thanks to the Rev. Roger Kimball for his teaching the Confirmation Class.
The Annual Youth Retreat at Laurel Ridge was held May 4-6. All who attended had a wonderful time. Many thanks to all the adults and children who participated.
