Join us on Sunday, November 13th as we celebrate Christ as Chief Elder Communion. On November 13, 1741 announcement was made in all Moravian congregations that Jesus Christ had been chosen Chief Elder of the Moravian Church. The Moravian Church has had no single human chief executive since then, and now observes this as a festival day on the Sunday closest to November 13th by celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Worship begins at 11 AM on Sunday morning. We hope to see you here! In addition, we will be holding our annual Church Council during worship this Sunday as well.

We have a special project we have just started. With the help of several members, we have a Sharing Box set up on the corner of Bank Street and Hunter Avenue. It contains non-perishable goods, snack items, small bibles, and books. As the seasons change we hope to include socks, hats and gloves. Take what you need and give what you can. Our women are continuing to reach out to our community. Thanks to Doug Conrad for building our Sharing Box and to Robbie Disher for the wonderful artwork.
With the threat of inclement weather this weekend, we encourage church members to check WXII, WFMY & WGHP television stations along with our Church website and Facebook page to discover information about any schedule changes for church events, meetings, and services due to weather conditions. We will have information publicized as early as we can concerning possible changes to our schedule on Sunday, January 13th.
According to our primary doctrinal statement, The Ground of the Unity, we are called in faith to serve humanity, with our actions shaped by scripture – but this is not always an easy task! Indeed, disagreements over how we translate scripture’s messages into individual and community actions are not new. Join us as we explore some of the challenges and prospects of biblical, faithful decision-making, then and now. This event is taking place on Saturday, November 3 from 9 AM to 3 PM at Ardmore Moravian Church. To learn more about this event or register, click on this following link: Comenius Learning Event
Help is needed! A work day has been called for Wednesday morning at 9 AM at church. Our recent storm has left a lot of debris on our church campus. Please bring rakes, leaf blowers and yourselves on Wednesday. With enough people we should be able to accomplish all we need to do very quickly. Thank you in advance for your participation!

A love offering will be collected to help the youth with their programs and missions. Please note following lunch we will have our Synod report and discussion.
Due to the threat of inclement weather for Wednesday morning, we will NOT be taking the church bus to the Day of Prayer Lovefeast service at Konnoak Hills Moravian. If people wish to attend and carpool together, you are encouraged to meet at the Fellowship Building Parking lot at 10:30 AM. If they should decide to cancel this service due to weather related conditions we will try to inform members in a timely manner Wednesday. Thank you for your understanding!

Available in PDF format for download is a statement from the worldwide Moravian Church (the Unity) from the President of the Unity Board, the Rev. Dr. Cortroy Jarvis, and the Unity Board Administrator, the Rev. D. Jørgen Bøytler. This statement expresses concern, as a matter of Christian principle, about recent statements by President Trump, and especially in light of our Moravian presence in many of the places to which the President’s comments referred. For example, Haiti has been for some years a Unity Mission Area of our church, under the care of the Jamaican and the Eastern West Indies Provinces; about 75% of the Moravians in the world live in Africa; and, 20% in the Caribbean and Central America. We encourage you to read, reflect upon, pray about, and to share this statement as you feel led. The statement can be found below:
Members are reminded that following worship on Sunday morning, November 12th we will be having a youth lunch in the Fellowship Building. Our heartfelt thoughts, prayers and sympathy are extended to those in Sutherland Springs, Texas who were killed yesterday while worshipping at First Baptist Church. May these words from our Moravian Book of Worship offer us encouragement and strength in the days ahead:
Our heartfelt thoughts, prayers and sympathy are extended to those in the Las Vegas community. To date, over fifty people have died and over 500 individuals are being treated in hospitals for injuries related to a shooting incident that took place at the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival. Remembering these words from our Moravian Book of Worship:
“For all who are in danger, trouble, or anguish, we ask the presence and strength of your Spirit.” (Intercessions in Time of Crisis)
At our Petersbrook RCC meeting in September, each RCC congregation has committed themselves to make 10 Emergency Cleanup Buckets. MORAVIAN DISASTER RESPONSEHurricanes and Earthquake Damage Update and Response
There is quite a lot happening at MDR. We are doing our best to monitor situations on several fronts. The update below will focus on the reports coming into the BWM from our partners and congregations. We realize the impact is much broader than areas where Moravian Churches are located, but cannot fit all of the information currently being covered by 24 hour news cycles into this update.
If you have any specific questions not addressed here, please email Justin@MoravianMission.org.
As we begin disbursing funds to some areas, and still wait for the full impact in others, we thank the many generous donors who have given already, and provide information below on how to direct financial gifts.

The BWM has received a letter from Cortroy Jarvis, Chairman of the EWI Province, providing an update on the situation so far in terms of the damage to the Leeward Islands, as well as the British and U.S. Virgin Islands. Safe Sanctuary Policy of Christ Moravian Church
As mandated by our Synod of 2014, Christ Moravian Church has adopted and is in the process of implementing our Safe Sanctuary Policy. Our Southern Province desires that children, youth, and adults experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith. Each congregation has been mandated to create policies that seek to protect the well being of children, youth and vulnerable adults in their care and the personnel who work with them in the ministries of the church. The adoption and implementation of such policies and procedures are important steps to ensure safety and well being along with reducing risk to children, youth, vulnerable adults, members of churches, churches, provincial boards and agencies. We now have a policy that will help ensure that children, youth and vulnerable adults are not placed at risk, and that our church, and Leadership Board do not face undesirable legal liabilities. Please click on the link above to review our policy.
Members are asked to remember in their prayers our Unity Synod that will be taking place next week in Jamaica. Our Southern Province representatives include The Rev.
